Weaving inspired by Africa

The pupils in Year 2 are currently learning about Africa and its culture. This afternoon the children created colourful weaving patterns inspired by Africa.

The children began by making a square or triangular frame by attaching sticks together using string and wool. They then created weaving patterns across the frame using different coloured wool.

Once their frame was created the children weaved natural materials such as leaves and feathers into the wool.

The children discovered that although they were able to create their own weaving pattern, at times help from a friend was essential. Take a look at our videos to see great team work in action! …
