This afternoon in Forest School, Year 4T went off to explore our wildlife area.
The area is only small and looks very quiet and uninhabited, but, as you get closer there are plenty of minibeasts to discover if you know where to look! Caterpillars munching their way through leaves; tadpoles wriggling in the pond; snails hiding in the bushes; woodlice making their home underneath damp wood; froghoppers and cuckoo spit in the grass and bees and wasps buzzing around the flowers.
With so many snails found, including the smallest we have ever seen, a snail race was definitely in order to end the afternoon.
The Champion Snail!
